I Changed My Mind About 40 Inch Tv. Here’s Why

by Grace

The best 40 inch TV is perfect for bedrooms, dorms, and apartments, where space is limited. Because there is a strong link between the screen size and how much a TV costs, they can also help people save money without sacrificing quality. Most 40-inch TVs cost less than $500, but a few high-end ones cost more. (However, many of the things we suggest are a bit more expensive.)

Sharpness and a wide dynamic range (HDR)

The picture is clearer and has more details when the resolution is higher. Televisions usually have 4K resolution these days. There are still cheaper 40-inch TVs that only have Full HD (1080p), but we wouldn’t recommend them. As far as prices go, the difference shouldn’t be too big, and getting a 4K TV will make it last longer.

In the same way, there are no small 8K TVs on the market right now. Also, there isn’t much content available at the 8K resolution anymore, so we don’t think you should buy an 8K TV.

Many new TVs use high-dynamic-range (HDR) display technology. TVs with HDR may be able to show a more dynamic range of brightness, making both very bright and low-light scenes look more real. Just think of a dark place where a single headlight is the only light source. HDR technology makes these kinds of scenes look better. Dolby Vision and HDR10 are two of the HDR formats that are used the most. All HDR-compliant TVs can handle HDR10, but only a few models can handle Dolby Vision.

Both QLED and OLED

Even though standard LED displays are great, two newer options are better. Whether you get a TV with an OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) display or a QLED (Quantum Dot Light-Emitting Diode) display, the picture will be better, but you’ll probably pay more. Check out our in-depth guides on the best OLED and QLED TVs to learn more about the technology and get suggestions for the best displays that use that technology.

Let’s say that QLED and OLED TVs cost more than regular LED TVs, especially at this size. They’re here because they’re the best option, but they don’t consider how much money you could save by buying a smaller TV.

Refresh rate

The refresh rate is important if you spend a lot of time playing games on a PlayStation 5 or Xbox One Series X or watching sports on TV. The refresh rate, measured in hertz (Hz), is how many times per second your TV can “redraw” its picture. This lets video games move faster, and movies move more smoothly. Some modern TVs have a refresh rate of 120Hz, which means that compatible games and shows can run more smoothly than older TVs, which usually only went up to 60Hz until the last couple of years. People who own or want a new gaming console are the only ones who want a fast refresh rate.

We explain how to connect your gaming consoles or devices to HDMI 2.1 ports to get higher refresh rates at 4K resolution (using suitable HDMI cables). At least one HDMI 2.1 port will be on any 120Hz TV, but more would be better.
